MY REVIEW

Overall, I thought this recipe was a fun and simple way to dress up a regular apple. I could picture myself making this as a snack for a party in the fall or getting together with my friends to try this recipe out. Personally, I would tweak it just a bit. I excluded the coconut oil, just as a personal preference. I've never been a fan of coconut oil and the drizzling consistency of the chocolate is perfect without it. If you're looking for a way to simplify this recipe even more, I would suggest doing the same. Second, I felt that a Granny Smith apple would have complimented the toppings way better than a Fuji apple. The finishing product was missing the tang that you would expect from a traditional candy apple. Also, if you're expecting the finishing product to be super sweet, you might want to use milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet, as the semi-sweet chips give more of a dark chocolate flavor. In terms of execution, be very careful when inserting the popsicle stick into the apple slice. If it is not thick enough, the slice will crack down the middle. I used a small skewer instead of a popsicle stick and some of the apple slices still cracked. When refrigerating the apples, expect the chocolate to accumulate condensation, almost a sweaty surface from being cold. If you want to avoid that moisture, you can leave the sheet out to dry. I would give this recipe a 5/10. The idea is adorable and would be popular, but I think the actual recipe could be better.
